Douglas Allen Hake of Quakertown died Tuesday, June 28, with hisfamily by his side, after a two year battle with mesothelioma, acancer caused by exposure to asbestos. he was 66.
Born June 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Albert andMarcelene (Beber) Hake.
He was a 1963 graduate of New Hope Solebury High School.
Doug served in the U. S. Navy from 1965 to 1969.
He worked at Merck for more than 25 years.
Doug was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He enjoyed serving as troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 64 andPost 64 in Carversville. he was always involved in his daughters’activities and served as a coach for the Quakertown T-shirt Soccerprogram, and volunteer for the Quakertown Swim Team and Upper BucksYMCA Swim Team. Additionally, he was an active member of AmericanVeterans AMVET Post 2 in Delaware.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Murphy Hake; daughters,Kristin Hake Klemish and husband, Ryan Klemish, of Duryea, Pa., andKelly Hake of Quakertown; and his beloved dog, Murphy. Alsosurviving is his brother, James Hake and family of Villanova,Pa.
A celebration of Doug’s life will take place at 11 a.m.Saturday, July 2, at Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & CremationService, 135 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown. Family andfriends may gather at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.Saturday.
