If there are pros, there will be and cons. For instance, your personal life will be not personal any more. People of politics are public figures and their life is always in a fishbowl. Secondly: irregular working hours. During elections you will have very little sleep. Things will get better afterwards, but no one will cancel work till late at night. You will have a great deal of business trips so if you are a stay-at-home then it is better not to choose this job.
