In 1989, Atari released a second version of the Lynx with a number of improvements including an extra hour of battery life, a sharper LCD screen, a button to switch off the backlight (to save on battery power when games are paused), a Power LED (it blinked when the battery was low) and rubber grips on the back, all encased in a smaller more rectangle-looking black casing. GREAT FOR ORIGINAL GAMEBOY, BUT ONLY A COUPLE OF PAGES FOR ATARI LYNX, DISSAPOINTING FOR ME
I was one of the rare kids that got an atari lynx system to share with my brother, and everybody else got gameboy. I wanted the Lynx because of the color graphics. It does have many good games, but it just never took off as a popular format.

ATARI DOES IT RIGHT AGAIN
This was and is a superb game machine. It came out in 1989 and had a LCD screen with resolution on a portable device that was not matched until the GameBoy Color came out in the late 90's, however GB Color didn't have as good of sound as the Lynx.

THE LYNX
The Lynx was Atari's answer to the handheld gaming craze. Originally set to compete against Nintendo's GameBoy, the system utilized a 16-bit processor and offered a backlit color display. However, the system kept getting the same games that Atari released on all of its previous systems...

BEST VERSION OF CALIFORNIA GAMES
The lynx has the best version of this game! Hands down, its the winner with smooth scaling effects, detailed graphics and sounds, the lynx blows away the NES version.
